The optics look really good. I just hope they fixed the flight model. In the early stages many real helicopter pilots complained about the flight model to be unrealistic in many aspects.
So I just let this game rest on my harddrive and did not touch it anymore. I did want to get used to complicated but unrealistic flight dynamics :-).
Wind seems an issue still, going by what a friend tells me about how they handle with the tail in the wind etc. It will also be nice to see if they get to the point of enabling dynamic rollovers and ground resonance – two of the many things heli pilots REALLY have to train for in order not to die a death in many chopped up pieces.
But where are the radio instruments? God damnit BIS we need VORs, NDBs, ADFs and ILS/LOCs. You fucking knobheads, get on it!

Right! I was expecting stuff like that as well and was bitterly disappointed by TKOH. I thought they’d offer what no product has offered before: a full blown ultra realistic flying sim with game elements and a real campaign.
Well, we have the campaign in Take On but it lacks the rest and reading the BIS forum is not encouraging. BIS stated several times there to users that they never wanted to create a realistic simulation.
They wanted to offer “authentic helicopter flying” but not to the extend of a real simulation.
Well, TKOH is too complex to be an arcade game but not realistic enough to be a simulation. That makes it a strange hybrid for me and is the reason why I haven’t touched it again after a short while.
Sorry I took forever to reply to this again. The Hinds with the improved flight model are a ton of fun, however, as $15 dollar DLC, I don’t know if it’s quite worth it, as there isn’t much new content other than the Hind and 3 1/2 new scenarios.
Judging by this recent news, however: http://www.armaholic.com/page.php?id=16454 I think the purchase will be much more justified. For now, it’s just a fun one-time thing to see the improved Hind flight model and run some quick missions, but in the future, being able to play in a combined environment between TkoH and Arma 2 is going to be awesome.
